Residential surveys overview

Buying a house can be a stressful experience. Our building surveys and home condition surveys can give you peace of mind about the property before you commit to buying

Following the survey, you will receive a report giving you an overview of the property and identifying any defects or problems discovered, giving each building element a rating to help you understand the property better. After we will be happy to have a phone consultation to discuss the findings in more depth.

Surveys can be tailored to suit all budgets. Get in touch for more information

Key benefits of getting a building survey or a home condition survey

  • Uncover Hidden Issues: A survey can help you identify potential problems that aren’t always obvious—things like structural issues, damp, or electrical problems. This can save you from unexpected repair costs later.
  • Peace of Mind: Having a professional assess the condition of the property gives you peace of mind that you’re making a sound investment and that there are no hidden risks.
  • An expert opinion for Big Decisions: A home is likely the biggest purchase you’ll ever make, so having an expert's opinion can provide useful input for such a significant decision.
  • Future Planning: The survey can help you plan for maintenance and future repairs, giving you an idea of what might need attention in the coming years

Our residential surveys

We provide two types or residential survey. A full building survey and a home condition survey. Both standard surveys and reports meet the Residential Property Surveyors Association (RPSA) standards.

1. Building survey

  • This is the most comprehensive survey available, ideal for older or more complex properties. The RPSA Building Survey provides a thorough inspection of the property's condition, including structural issues, damp, and any other hidden problems that might not be visible at first glance.
  • Best For: Older homes, properties that are unusual or unique in design, or those that have been altered or poorly maintained.

2. Home condition survey

  • This is a simpler, more basic survey that assesses the general condition of the property and identifies any obvious defects. It’s often used for relatively new or modern properties that don’t have any known major issues.
  • Best For: Newer homes in good condition that don't require a deep dive into the property's structure.
